We wanted games that start the moment someone taps a link, on a phone or a laptop, and keep their saves without a login.** **// What we built** ## What we built, piece by piece 1. **01**### Every game opens from a link in the browser 2. **02**### Installs from the browser and plays offline 3. **03**### Touch controls on phones, keyboard and mouse on laptops 4. **04**### No accounts, ads or tracking, with saves kept on the device **Built with** Nuxt, Three.js, Phaser and HTML5 Canvas. **// The build** ## How we built it Every Oddvexel game has to load quickly, work on a phone and be fun within the first minute, and we would rather release a small finished game than a large unfinished one. Browser limits push us the same way, towards games that are tight and quick to start. The three out so far are a 3D open-world adventure, a top-down racer and a pixel-art action RPG. We design for the phone from the start rather than shrinking a desktop game at the end. Each game asks to be turned sideways and is built as a progressive web app, so a player who likes one can add it to the home screen with its own icon and play it on a train or a plane with no signal. Saves sit in the browser's storage on the player's device, and we never see them. The site is open about the cost: clearing browser data or playing in a private window deletes progress, and a save stays on the device where it was made. The contact page sends nothing itself either.
